Polyurea's Tank Coatings

Polyurea Tank Coatings

Polyurea coatings protect steel tanks from corrosion, chemicals, and other natural weather and jobsite elements. With proper surface preparation, substrate condition, formulation choice, primers, and installation procedures, polyurea goes on fast and stays on long.

Polyureas are great for extending the life of older tanks and can offer limited structural characteristics as well. These systems can be applied during primary construction or in a retrofit environment.

With their fast cure times they are ideal for retrofit since down time is significantly minimized compared to some competing materials.

Polyurea Marine Coatings

Polyurea MArine Applications

Bullet Liner's Polyurea Material's ability to maintain its physical characteristics under long-term sun and sea exposure and resist marine borers, makes it an ideal product for coating Naval and Industrial ships, piers, offshore oilrigs, and other marine applications.

Polyurea Bridge Coatings

Polyurea's ability to outlast paint and fight off corrosion is a major reason these systems are being specified for bridge deck and structure coating by State DOT's around the nation. The most common applications of polyurea coatings on bridges are over steel and concrete.

Polyurea Rail Car Linings

Polyureas are commonly used to line liquid containment railcars for their waterproofing and chemical resistance benefits. Hopper style rail cars have benefited from the strength of polyurea and its ability to resist abrasion. These cars often carry coal, sand, and other abrasive materials. Polyurea can be applied quickly and it will last longer than many other conventional systems if properly applied.

Polyurea Manhole and Sewer Linings

Polyurea manhole lining is a rapidly growing market due to polyurea’s ability to solve many current issues with groundwater infiltration and installation speed. Many municipal and private water systems are in great need of lining and structural repair.

With proper surface preparation and substrate conditions, primers and Polyurea can be applied fast to return the cavity to service faster than most competitive systems. Polyurea's ability to form a monolithic, durable liner protects the cavity from sediment and groundwater infiltration into municipal wastewater systems.

Polyurea Rail Applications

Residential Use

Bullet Liner's Polyurea is spray-on coating with high abrasion resistance, high chemical resistance, excellent durability, and excellent flexibility. Vendors and manufacturers have developed formulations to cover a very wide variety of requirements from extreme surface hardness to extreme elongation. Our job as coating system contractors is to determine all the specifics of your project and select the right polyurea and top coats (if needed).

Polyurea Coatings for Residential Applications

Residential Polyurea Floor Applications
  • USDA and Potable Approved
  • Fast Set Nature
  • High Elongation
  • Durability / Abrasion Characteristics
  • Weather Tolerant (cures at -25F to 300F in as little as 3 seconds)
  • Waterproof
  • Seamless
  • Unlimited Mil Thickness in One Application
  • Resistant to Solvents, Caustics and Mild Acids

Polyurea Flooring

Polyurea flooring systems are most popular for their rapid turnaround installation capabilities. Other benefits are available with polyurea flooring systems as well. Polyureas are very durable and great for use in areas of high traffic. They are used in clean/dirty rooms as a waterproofing and protective coating from daily pressure cleaning operations. Polyurea can be formulated to be flexible and resilient allowing the flooring system to protect objects that may fall upon them.

Polyurea Ponds / Pools

Aquariums, Ponds and Pools have also found benefits with polyurea. The ability to form to properly prepared custom shaped walls and themed ornaments make this system desirable. A spray applied, water resistant liner, available in a variety of colors with rapid return to service installation is why facility owners are turning to polyurea.

Polyurea Roofs

Polyurea coatings make an excellent protective covering for polyurethane foam roofs. Polyurea can be formulated to meet specific performance requirements due the wide range of physical properties that can be formulated. Some systems have the "Cool Roof" ENERGY STAR® rating for color and reflectivity.

These reflective coatings can help reduce the amount energy consumption buildings use for heating and cooling. The fast cure time and insensitivity to moisture allows for a quicker installation with a wider application window. Proper surface preparation and substrate condition is always necessary.

Polyurea Swimming Pool and Pond Applications

Polyurea Landscaping

Landscape designers and contractors have found similar benefits with polyurea. Polyurea is often used to contain water for ponds and pool decorations to form a primary containment liner. Use of geotextile material is common when applying polyurea over dirt. Proper surface condition is vital when applying over concrete and most other substrates.

Bullet Liner is a product invented and produced by Claudio Burtin. He is the principal founder of Line-X. After he sold LineX corporation, and properly waited out a non-compete clause, he was then able to develop and launch Bullet Liner. There are some major differences between the two, mostly being the UV stability and gloss retention properties of Bullet Liner over LineX. Think of it this way. He made LineX over 2 decades ago, and now Bullet is a newer, more advanced product. Think how much technology has changed in the past 20 years! Bullet Liner is an all around better product for the applicator and the customer.

Chevrolet Forum

From recent inquiries it appears as though many installers of Line-X bed liners have abandoned their franchises and switched over to Bullet bed liners. It seems the same engineering genius (chemical engineer), who invented the used in Line-X, sold the company, and started up a new company using, "new an improved" products. Apparently there are a few improvements in the application and also the Line-X was prone to some sun fading and supposedly the Bullet process is more fade resistant.

That is true that the designer of linex started Bullet and from what I am told he is in Georgia. My 4Wheel Parts store knows him personally and from what they told me, he has taken Linex's flaws and improved upon them. One of the problems I have had with Linex on two different trucks is that after awhile it blackwashes. You can wipe the chalky residue off with your hand. My buddy got the Bullet and it is a much better product. It stays shiny (I think it has UV protectors in it) and it doesn't chalk up. With Bullet, you don't need those revitalizing sprays they sell for Linex and Rhino to keep them new looking.

Oceanside did the LineX on my previous truck and they do awesome work. The shop has been around for a long time and the owner says they will stand by the product. He explained to me why they switched. Without bashing LineX he told me that Bullet is a superior product. The guy who invented LineX sold the company and name about five years ago. His chemical company developed a new coating and he decided to start a new venture instead of selling the compound. So far, the dealers that have signed on with Bullet Liner are former LineX dealers who have jumped ship, like Oceaside. I went to the shop and spoke with them in person and they showed me some examples. I was impressed, especially with the much lower price over LineX Premium. I will be getting Bullet Liner sprayed on my truck next week!

I got it done with the Bullet Liner product. I did research and found that the guy who started Line-X sold it and he started Bullet Liner. Also, I got high recommendations by my friend who run an Auto shop next door to the Bullet Liner guys.
